A Bharatiya Janata Party MLA in Punjab was allegedly thrashed and his clothes torn by a group of farmers at Malout in Muktsar district on Saturday, police said.
The incident took place outside a temple in the city where Suri and some other leaders of the party were holding a protest, they said.
The men were associated with the Khalistan Liberation Front.
"Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency imparted the training to Gurpreet Singh," said Punjab Director-General of Police N P S Aulakh.
